Daily Nishino Breathing Methods (5 min) Jusoku Methods Part 4: Yongen- jūsoku and Tenyu

Yongen- jūsoku 四元充足 (four-element energy filling exercise)

Yongen refers to the hands and feet. Through this Jusoku method you fill these four elements (locations) with energy and capture the connection between the inside and outside of the body.

The hands are said to be the second brain and the feet the second heart, and when the four elements are filled, the blood circulation improves, and the mind becomes clearer.

In addition, because the four elements are at the ends of the body, far from the heart, and have a strong connection to the outside of the body, attachment to the inside of the body is eliminated.

Then you will be able to feel that the inside of your body is "empty," and you will be able to perceive the connection between the inside and the outside of your body with the four locations.

"Emptiness" in this case refers to the state of being able to fill and channel unlimited energy.

Now, let us actually perform Yougen Jusoku.

The Basic Sokushin Breathing (Tenyu)

First, we will start with the basic Sokushin Breathing (Tenyu) to lead us to this state of Yongen-Jusoku.

Stand shoulder-width apart, parallel to each other.

Stand comfortably with knees relaxed.

Fill the tanden and the hands with energy.

Sangen Jusoku (the three-element energy filling exercise)

Exhale the energy of the tanden down to Sokusin (the soles of your feet)

With a long, thin exhalation through the mouth

Through the thighs

Through the knees

To the Sokushin

As if breathing in through the Sokushin,

breathe in through the nose.

Gradually raise the upper body.

Guide your breath through the knees.

To the tanden

Keeping the feeling at the anus,

inhale up through the spine,

through the back of the neck,

up to the Hyakkai (top of the head).

While holding your breath, guide your breath through the front of your body

To the Tanden.

Open your hands to the height of your head.

Now, exhale slowly, long and thin.

Gradually lower your hands.

Exhale down to the Sokushin.

Through the knees,

now your breath reaches the Sokushin.

Next to the state of Yongen Jusoku

Bring your awareness to the hands and feet, and let them become full of energy.

Exhale long, thin breaths from the mouth, and let the energy flow in a relaxed manner.

This is the end of the lesson.
