Daily Nishino Breathing (4 min.) : Jusoku Methods Part 2 and Shinjun Energy Infiltration Practice

Nigen- jūsoku 二元充足 (two element filling exercise)

Nigen-jūsoku, like Ichigen-jūsoku, may be practiced standing or sitting on the kneels. Nigen refers to the Tanden and Hyaku-e (top of the head).  First, after having fully performed Ichigen-jūsoku, hold the palm of one hand over the top of the head while keeping the mind focused on the Tanden. At this point, relax your arms and shoulders, and be careful not to arch your back.

The hand is a highly sophisticated sensor. They capture every event with a density that far exceeds the sense of touch. They are the very ends of the body, and energy flows in and out from them naturally. The pressure of the atmosphere and the energy of the sky, which is subtly transmitted through the hands, is caught at the top of the head, enriching the two elements (the Tanden and Hyaku-e).

The key point is how to smoothly pass the energy from the Hyaku-e. First, you should practice how to relax the top of the head intentionally. When the whole body is in a state of Chuyū, an ideal state of the body, the top of the head will naturally relax as well.

Chuyū宙遊

Chuyū is a state in which the body floats softly and naturally in a comfortable hot spring bath. In the modern image, it is similar to swimming freely in a weightless space (outside the atmosphere). Chuyū is a relaxed yet powerful state of the body that is created based on Sokushin (soles of the feet ) Breathing, without placing a heavy burden on the heart or lungs.

How to practice Nigen- jūsoku

First, stand comfortably with your feet shoulder-width apart and parallel to each other.

Next, affirm the foundation of the body (Tanden: one element) to the state of Ichigen- jūsoku, then fully fill the Tanden with energy.

While keeping your awareness on the tanden, hold one palm up to the Hyaku-e.

At this point, relax your arms and shoulders and be careful not to bend your back.

With the back of your hand, which is a sensor, you feel the weight of the atmosphere and the energy of the sky.

Then, catch these subtle transmissions of the energy from the palms of your hands with the Hyaku-e, and fill up the Nigen (two elements: the Tanden and Hyaku-e)

Practice this while exhaling slowly through the mouth.

Shinjun 浸潤 (energy infiltration practice)

This time you will learn Shinjun, energy infiltration, from the state of Nigen- jūsoku. Shinjun is the process of letting the energy that has been absorbed into the body permeate the entire body.

Just like butter on the head melts and the energy permeates the entire body first to the brain.

It spreads to the entire head, neck, and shoulders, then to the chest, abdomen, lower back.

It spreads down to the entire head, neck, and shoulders, then to the chest, abdomen, and lower back.

The flow that comes to the lower back flows through the legs to the Sokushin (the soles of the feet).

At the same time as this flow, another flow is guided by the upper hand. Place your hand over the front of the forehead.

Feel the energy in the forehead with your hand, then slowly lower the hand along the line of the center of the body to the Tanden.

Now lower both hands.

(This is the end of Shinjun)
